DAV believes in the holistic development of the students. To enhance their spiritual and mental wellbeing, Vedic mantras are taught. Performing Agnihotra and chanting Vedic mantras are an integral part of the school curriculum. Vedic mantras are taught from class I and students perform Havan from classes I – XII.
The art of concentration is known as meditation. Vedic mantra chanting enables the mind stable and cures stress related disorders. It enables clear and creative thinking of the students. DAV believes in holistic development of the students. Chanting Vedic mantras and performing havan is the part of their curriculum. From class 1, students are encouraged to chant mantras and perform havan.
In the year 2018-2019, students were given an opportunity to celebrate their birthdaysand the birthdays of their family membersin a divine manner, by performing the havan on that day.
In the year 2019-2020, students celebrated their birthdays by performing the havan in the School Prayer Hall with their family members. More than 500 students registered this year to perform the birthdayhavan.
Shri. Jaidev Memorial Interschool Vedic Mantra Chanting Competition was started in the fond memory of our beloved Secretary, a great visionary, Shri Jaidev Ji, in the year 2016-2017 under the auspices of Arya Samaj and DAV Group of Schools, Chennai.
Into its third year, in 2019, a separate category for the nursery students was introduced in the competition. Now students from classes Nursery to IX are participating in the competition. The top 10% of the participants are awarded a Participation Certificate in each category.
Into its fifth year, in 2021, the competition was held virtually due to the pandemic. Students participated in the competition enthusiastically. In the competitions, our students won prizes in various categories.
